Experience

The Principals of the company have extensive experience with all elements of ownership including acquisition, finance, management, leasing, and disposition of government occupied real estate. Over the past ten years, the company's Principals have acquired 22 government tenanted assets totaling over two million square feet in 14 states. To date, 14 of those properties were successfully sold, and the others are performing at or above projections.

David Chazen

David Chazen

Partner

David is the Cofounder and Managing Partner of Strategic Government Properties. David's is responsible for the day to day management of the company, as well deal sourcing and analysis, strategic development, and managing client relationships. Before founding SGP, David had extensive experience working with institutional and high net worth investors in a variety of asset classes, and David began his career at Goldman, Sachs working with private and institutional clients. During his career David also started, built, and sold several companies in the consumer products and marketing sector.

Mr. Chazen is a director of the Chazen Institute of Global Business at Columbia Business School. He serves on the board and Advancement Committee of High Jump, an educational not-for-profit based in Chicago. He is a founding member of the Young Presidents Organization, Aspen Chapter, and serves as membership chair. He serves on the Board of Theatre Aspen and is a member of the Socrates Society of the Aspen Institute. Mr. Chazen received his B.S. from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in 1982 and his MBA from Columbia Business School in 1986. He has run 26 New York City Marathons and counting.

Chuck Cowan

Jon Center, CPA

Chief Financial Officer

As Chief Financial Officer of Strategic Government Properties, Jon's responsibilities include oversight and ownership of the financial records for the organization and its underlying real estate holdings, coordination of bank activities, reporting of key operational and financial results, and development of monthly financial statements prepared in accordance with relevant accounting standards to analyze performance, to report to investors, and to identify opportunities for optimizing investment performance.

Prior to joining SGP, Jon was Controller at private equity backed FoodChainID, following 11+ years in EY's (Ernst & Young) assurance practice, including as a Senior Manager within its Real Estate, Hospitality and Construction practice. Jon earned both his BS in Accountancy and Master of Accounting Science from the University of Illinois in Champaign. Jon loves spending time with his wife, son, daughter, and dog, has an unhealthy obsession with golf and loves traveling to experience and learn about different cultures. Philanthropically, he serves as the Vice President on the Board of Directors of Resilience, an organization focused on empowering and supporting survivors of domestic violence.

 

George Baker

George Baker

Director of Acquisitions and Capital Markets

George recently joined Strategic Government Properties. George will leverage his experience earned in two real estate asset management companies, Montecito Medical and Cypress West Partners, where George’s roles included Chief Investment Officer, Head of Capital Markets, Partner, and Board Member. As an investment manager, George was directly involved in the acquisition and financing of over $1.2B of Medical Office assets.

George also has experience in JLL’s Capital Markets Group specializing in debt in equity placements. George worked across product types and has facilitated bridge, construction, permanent, acquisition, bond (CTL) financings for numerous property types including multifamily, senior living, net leased, aviation, and medical office. George is a graduate from the University of Texas at Austin and currently resides in Aspen, Colorado with his wife and two daughters.

 

Grant Krumholz

Controller and Senior Acquisition Analyst

Grant is the newest member of the Strategic Government Properties team. As the Controller and Senior Acquisition Analyst, Grant is responsible for the day-to-day financial reporting responsibilities, analyzing potential acquisitions, and investor relations. Prior to SGP, Grant worked in the Deal Advisory group at KPMG, mostly servicing financial due diligence to private equity clients.Grant graduated with both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in accounting from the University of Texas at Austin. He hails from Dallas, and is new to Chicago. Grant loves travelling, being outside, and cheering on the Longhorns, Cowboys, and Mavericks.
